Activated carbon extraction of gold from gold-containing soot

The flotation gold concentrate of the Rhubarb Knife Mining Company's gold selection plant produces soot containing 90-100 g ∕t, 4% arsenic and 5% bismuth in the fluidized boiling roasting. When the plant uses cyanidation to treat the soot, it is difficult to filter and concentrate because the material in the slurry is very fine. The recovery rate of gold is only 70%, and the gold-containing solution is seriously polluted by arsenic and antimony. To this end, the pine activated carbon (particle size - 2.36 ~ +0.83mm) was used to adsorb gold in the slurry. The equipment system of the cyanide and carbon slurry process of the plant containing gold dust is shown in Figure 1.

The soot produced by the gold concentrate roasting (9~10t/d) is supplied by a screw feeder into a 0.9m×0.9m slurry tank, and water is added to the slurry to 10% solids. After being pumped to a stainless steel fixed sieve (1.2 m × 1.2 m) by a centrifugal pump to remove coarse dust and debris, it was concentrated by a thickener to contain 30% solids. When concentrated, the pH of the slurry is 5, the viscosity is too large to precipitate, and even filtration is impossible. The concentrated slurry was pumped to the agitation tank by a diaphragm pump, and after caustic soda was neutralized to pH 7.8, sodium cyanide 0.045% and sodium carbonate 0.02% were added to the stirred leaching tank to be cyanated for 72 hours. During the leaching process, if the alkali concentration in the solution based on Na ₂ CO ₃ exceeds 0.011%, the gold which has been adsorbed by the activated carbon will be desolved. The cyanidation of the slurry is intermittent. When the activated carbon adsorbed the gold to saturation, it was lifted by a centrifugal pump to the upper 0.417 mm (35 mesh) vibrating screen. The separated gold-loaded charcoal is washed with water in a dry washing tank to remove the slime. The washed gold-loaded carbon has a water content of about 50%, and is dried in a steam dryer to a water content of 7% to be sent to a smelting plant for smelting.
