Somchai Channarongkul, an official at the Ministry of Agriculture of Thailand, said that the department has taken quick action to provide assistance to farmers in the northeastern rubber-producing area to reduce the amount of sulfuric acid used to maintain the Thai rubber export market. An expert from the Thai Rubber Research Institute stated that, in fact, for many years, the Thai Ministry of Agriculture has been disabling the propaganda and guidance of sulfuric acid when tapping rubber.

In recent years, the drop in oil prices has prompted global tire companies to increase the use of synthetic rubber, which has affected the sales volume and price of natural rubber.
