Ukrainian fastener production increased by 70% year-on-year in 2010

With the gradual recovery of the global economy in 2010, the output of Ukrainian metal products has increased substantially compared to 2009. With the exception of nails, the output of all other metal products has increased by nearly 20%, and in particular, the output of fasteners has increased by as much as 70%.

According to statistics, the total output of Ukrainian metal products in 2010 was about 270,000 tons, of which more than 200,000 tons were metal wire products. The output of industrial fasteners was 1,600 tons, wire ropes 29,400 tons, steel strands 8,400 tons, and steel mesh 6,800 tons. Although nail production reached 13,300 tons, it decreased by 14.3% compared with 2009.

In 2010, Ukrainian metal products’ share in the CIS countries increased from 13,000 tons to 56,000 tons. The overall performance of the Ukrainian domestic market performed well. Total orders increased from 123,000 tons to 156,300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 27.1%. Russia has always been a major importer of Ukrainian metal products.
