One tubeplate is connected to surface by flange and other one Is not, So pipe can stretch freely when it is heated or cooled,this tube plate is covered by floating head.
It has an advantage of tube bundle can be pulled out for cleaning; the expansion of the tube bundle is not restricted by surface, therefore it can avoid thermal expansion due to huge temperature differences.
