On July 5 at noon, a local villager reported to the police that Dong Qiang was seen in a temple on the mountain at the junction of Chating Township in Yanting County and Daxing Township in Qixian County. "He said he was hungry and told me to send him to the public security bureau." The villager said.

The police rushed to the scene when Dong Qiang was flipping things in the temple. Dong Qiang confessed that since he absconded on July 3, he has been relying on the mountains to pick wild fruits for food. On July 5, he was really hungry and couldn't stand it before he came to the temple to look for food.

Taking into account that several villagers believe that Dong Qiang may have mental problems, the police also conducted a criminal responsibility evaluation for him. According to the results of the judicial appraisal, Dong Qiang has full criminal responsibility.
